Potential new Twitter owner Elon Musk spoke to Kanye “Y” West on Saturday about a tweet from the fashion mogul to the rapper that has been widely condemned as anti-Semitic.
Taking a highly personal approach to content moderation, Musk tweeted.“spoke to you today and expressed my concerns about his recent tweet, which I think he took to heart.”
In a tweet Saturday night, West wrote, “I’m getting little sleep tonight but when I wake up I’m going to die on the Jewish people,” he wrote. “The funny thing is, I can’t actually be anti-Semitic because black people are actually Jews too. You guys have played with me and tried to blackball anyone who opposes your agenda.”
An hour after it was posted, Twitter removed it because it violated its rules.
West returned to Twitter on Friday after a long hiatus and bans on his Instagram account. Meta confirmed. The Hollywood Reporter that West was locked out of his account after he allegedly posted an exchange between him and rapper Daddy that contained language deemed anti-Semitic.
In an exchange with Diddy over West’s controversial “White Lives Matter” tees, West wrote: “I don’t like our cano. I’m selling this tea. No one can come between me and my money.”
When Daddy asked him to stop selling tea, West responded: “Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people who asked you to call me that someone Cannot threaten or influence.”
The Instagram post has since been deleted.
Returning to Twitter on Friday, West called out Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, tweeting, “How come you kicked me off Instagram.” He was quickly greeted on Twitter by Elon Musk, who confirmed his plans to buy Twitter. “Welcome back to Twitter, my friend,” Musk replied to West’s tweet about Zuckerberg.
